Base Brown - Green Gable - Great Gable - 187th, 188th & 189th Wainwrights

Back in the Lakes after 10 months!! Plans have been slightly altered this year in terms of finishing the Wainwrights, but we started with a big hike - this is looking towards Great Gable from the summit of Green Gable - there’s a short section of scrambling on the way up, and it definitely makes the climb go quicker!

Looking straight down the Ennerdale Valley from the top of Green Gable - we had to climb back up to this summit as we were heading back to Base Brown.

The summit cairn of Base Brown, a quick stop before we headed down. A long day, with 11 miles of walking and over 3000ft of climbing… but so pleased to have made it to Great Gable, the “mountaineers mountain” - a pretty iconic mountain in the Lakes, and instantly recognisable when you see it on the skyline.
