Set off early in the morning from Braithwaite, and foot scootered along the path to the mine in order to start the climb up to Hopegill Head. Amazing weather, which was fortunate, as we went on to Whiteside along the ridge, and I reckon bad conditions would make this harder. There are a couple of points at which hands and knees are needed to slightly scramble the rock, and there are very steep, exposed drops either side as you do this. Great fun though! Superb panoramic views of all the mountains we’ve climbed on the way back…These Wainwrights marked our completion of the North Western Fells - just 23 more mountains to climb now…
