Lingmell - 201st Wainwright

Lingmell.jpg
This was the second mountain of the day after descending Scafell Pike in the heavy rain. We took a route up the flank of the mountain which led directly to the summit cairn, but we still had great difficulty seeing anything, except for some extremely steep gulleys close to the top. Made a stop here to change socks, as the previous pair were soaked, before making the sharp descent via the ‘nose’ of the mountain, back to the path we started on at about 7:00 in the morning. This is when the sun came out, and we finally go the views! You can just about see where we came from - the small pimple on the high distant ridge is the summit structure on top of Scafell Pike.
